The Sleep Journey

One of the hardest but most important aspects of raising small humans is managing sleep. Not just for your child but everyone in your household. No family is the same. Some seem to have it easy. Others seem to do it rough!

Where are you on this journey of sleep?

Try and remember that one day, you’ll miss the sound of little feet padding into your room at 2 am.

Parenting little ones often feels like trekking through unknown lands - especially at night.

Here are some of the most common “sleeping patterns”  - do you fit into any of these?

  • Fragmented Nights – Sleep comes in broken chunks, like jet lag without the holiday.

  • Shift System – One parent covers the early night, the other takes the dawn.

  • Co-Sleeping Caravan – Little ones climb in, and suddenly the bed feels very small.

  • Early Bird Household – Children wake at 5 am, coffee becomes a survival tool.

  • Catch-Up Strategy – Parents nap when they can, trading off rest like precious treasure.

  • False Hope Cycle – A week of perfect sleep… then back to midnight wake-ups.

  • Sleep Training Plateau – Routines help, but setbacks are part of the journey.

However your sleep journey map looks, remember—you’re not lost. You’re simply navigating the wild and wonderful world of early parenthood.

Remember that sleepless seasons are just that – season!!! This too shall pass.

Your child isn’t giving you a hard time. They’re having a hard time — Night waking isn’t mischief; it’s a call for comfort.

To be small is to need big love - A child alone in their bedroom is braver than we sometimes realise.

Every night of wakefulness is one night closer to them sleeping soundly -  Progress is slow but steady.

Do you have any tips to share with us?
